This year marks an extraordinary milestone — 46 years since the Leo Club of Moratuwa first opened its doors. What began as a handful of passionate young leaders has grown into one of Sri Lanka's most celebrated Leo clubs. On Leo Day 2026, we gathered to reflect, celebrate, and commit to another year of meaningful service.
On the morning of June 15th, 2026, the Leo Club of Moratuwa gathered at the University of Moratuwa Auditorium for what would become one of the most memorable Leo Day celebrations in our 46-year history. The air was electric — alumni who hadn't seen each other in years, active members who'd grown into leaders, and guests who'd been touched by our work all came together under one roof.
The ceremony opened with a moment of silence for all those our projects have helped over the decades. Our President reflected on the journey from 1980 — when a small group of determined young students first pledged to serve their community — to today, where over 1,000 Leos have passed through our ranks.

The highlight of the morning was the awards ceremony. The Best Leo Award went to a member who personally organized over 12 community events this year alone, including the landmark Blood Donation Drive that collected 150 units in a single day. The Outstanding Service Award recognized our Environment team for planting 500 trees across Moratuwa and nearby schools.
As the sun set over Moratuwa, members, alumni, and Lions advisors gathered for a gala dinner. Stories were shared, friendships renewed, and memories made that will last a lifetime. A surprise photo montage — 46 years of Leo Club memories — drew applause, laughter, and more than a few tears.
As we close Leo Day 2026 and look ahead, our commitment to service remains unwavering. Upcoming projects include a major Blood Donation Drive, expansion of the Leo Tutors program to three new schools, and a new Mental Health on Campus initiative. Stay tuned — the best is yet to come.
